Concert of the Month: Scythian (at the Michigan Irish Music Fest)

When was the last time you attended a concert where time stood still, you were captivated to the point of tears, and you actually jumped, shouted and did the Irish Polka?  Well, hello, sweet Scythian.

Honestly, I was just showing up for the next concert under the main tent at the Michigan Irish Music Fest.  I wasn’t expecting this.  In a melodic moment, I realized I’d entered into the presence of men that are doing exactly what they are created to do and know how to invite others into their pure joy.

I’m not really sure what else to say except that these guys have raw talent (combined with classical training), uninhibited stage presence, and an amazing connection with each other and their audience.  They left me wanting to give up my life to travel with them on their Church Bus and support their musical dreams.  That’s some kind of magic.

I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves (still learning how to shoot movement in low light-sorry), but please do watch the video (proof of their charisma) and buy their newest album, “American Shanty” here on itunes.

If you’re in the midwest, they will be in Chicago on Oct. 23rd.  Any takers?
