Welcome to Day 2 of our India Simulation Weekend. After a great morning listening to Rob Wegner talk on prayer [click here to watch], we drove over to South Bend to test the all-important running with luggage skills.
While backpacking on real trails, I have often wished my training regimen included stair-climbing with my heavy pack (okay, let’s be honest, I don’t really train at all). Also, I have been the girl running a mile with my pack through a European city because I showed up at the train station instead of the bus station. These people at GCC are smart, I tell you. They’re preparing us for everything.
I’d like you to meet my team leaders, Barbara and Jim. They are seriously special people. They take such good care of us physically (she’s a nurse and he’s a doctor), emotionally and spiritually. We are in good, wise hands on this trip. What’s that? You know that game that Jim is playing? Well, with four SpringHill staff on the trip, you know we’re bound to play a lot of games. We took the weekend to introduce the team to I’ve Never, Look Up Look Down, Huh!, and many crazy songs! (Note: The four of us from SpringHill are spending our own money and using our vacation days to join what GCC is doing in India. While this is a personal trip, we’re forever grateful our SpringHill life has given us a head full of games and ways to connect with kids anywhere. We encourage you also to look for where God is working outside your typical setting and live it out!) We ended our weekend together serving the local church. I love the facility team at GCC (they’ve become dear friends each summer as they welcome my team and almost 500 kids into their building for Day Camps). It was a privilege to serve them and get to scrub down the kids area!
