There have been many catalysts for my move to Detroit.
One of the biggest came in the form of pancakes for dinner. (Check out how the tradition started here).
For the last 3.5 years, I’ve been blessed to invest in a specific neighborhood, an awesome little girl, a special family.
We’ve shared meals, church, math apps, prayers and laughs.
Through this process of being moved onward, I’ve taken a lot of time to reflect. “Pancakes for dinner” has been my most important work in Grand Rapids. I’ve loved joining together to build a Day Camp program that serves thousands, but honestly, it’s been about six.
These six are the reasons I fight for scholarships for kids to come to camp, for a changed public school system, for the alieviation of childhood hunger, for adults to get involved in mentoring.
It’s all deeply personal. I can’t wait to dig in and live this way in Detroit.
